Swaye Boutique is a secondhand fashion boutique in Dunedin, New Zealand. Swaye was the baby of Jenny Walker, a brilliant local lady with a passion for fashion, but they were then adopted by Roz White following Jenny's diagnosis with cancer. Since then, we've strived to continue what Jenny started.

what do we believe in?

celebration of diversity

at Swaye, we live for diversity in all of its forms. it's always a joy to see different types of people with all sorts of styles coming into our store. what's more, we are proudly and staunchly anti-bigotry. systemic bigotry and ostracization continues to cause harm and trauma to marginalised individuals, and there is no reasoning to justify such hatred. when you come into Swaye, you can be rest-assured that you're most welcome and we do not tolerate racism, xenophobia, queerphobia, transphobia, ableism, or fatphobia. frankly, we really don't care who you are, but we care very much about you.

defiance of convention

at Swaye, we turn our noses up at the high-street corporate machines and social media tastemakers trying to dictate what fashion should be. We don’t believe in changing our wardrobes every season; algorithmically-curated micro-trends; brown for autumn, pink for spring. Who said that these were rules, in the first place? ...exactly. What we want is for our customers to live for themselves, shop for themselves, and craft a style that is all their own.

goblin living

we know what you must be thinking- what on EARTH is goblin living? it's quite a simple concept, really. goblin living is all about creativity, resourcefulness, sustainability, and making your fashion your own with what you have. like, wearing a skirt as a tube top? werk it out! flipping an old blazer into a top and skirt set? work your magic! there's no wearing something once, and a hole or tear isn't enough to write a garment off.
